Shillong Sep 25: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has unanimously elected Nongthymmai MDC Bah Winston Tony Lyngdoh as the new Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC). The party has also inducted Bah Denzil Raynard Chen into the new Executive Committee (EC).

Speaking to reporters, VPP president Bah Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit said that the allocation of portfolios would be left to the discretion of the new CEM.

Basaiawmoit expressed satisfaction with the performance of the outgoing EC, saying the VPP-led administration had worked to streamline the council’s functioning while upholding a culture of clean governance.

“We had promised transparency and efficiency in the district council, and we are pleased to see positive changes,” Basaiawmoit stated.

He highlighted key achievements under the leadership of outgoing CEM Bah Shemborlang Rynjah, including the introduction of a transparent recruitment process, reforms in the trade and elaka departments, and a commitment to thorough and well-considered decision-making.

Looking ahead, Basaiawmoit said the new EC would build on these efforts, with a continued focus on transparency and accountability.

“The focus will remain on clean governance and transparency, ensuring that the KHADC functions effectively and efficiently. The VPP is committed to delivering on its promises to the people,” he added.
