Tripura, Agartala , Oct.26: A workshop titled ‘India Bangladesh Border: Interaction and Cross Border Relations with special reference to Northeast and Roads Ahead’ was conducted in Agartala to strengthen India-Bangladesh border relations.
It also aimed at promoting people to people relationship by imbibing more students from Bangladesh in Tripura University and vice versa.
Department of journalism and mass communication of Tripura University, OKD institute of social change and development of Guwahati and Sasakawa peace foundation of Japan collaborated to organise this workshop.
Vice Chancellor of Tripura University, Prof AK Ghosh said, “This is very important for Tripura University because it is nearest to Bangladesh and we are interested in developing stronger relationship with the country”.
Professors and students from the universities, including delegates, discussed various issues pertaining to the multilateral Indo-Bangladesh relationship.
Emphasis was also laid on transport communication with special reference to Agartala-Akhaura rail link.
Moreover, delegates from Japan stressed that peace forms an integral part for the nation’s development in all spheres and people to people dialogue is an important tool to sustain growth of the countries.
Representative of Sasakawa Peace Foundation Jui Nakamura said, “As a grassroot organization we need to commit people to people dialogue no matter what happens. We even have a programme in China to promote the exchange between China and Japan”.
The workshop gave a better perspective to the people about the border relations between the neighboring countries and the need to further strengthen it.(ANI)
