Workshop to create awareness on KHADC rules

Shillong, Dec 2: The ruling United Democratic Forum (UDF) in Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has decided to organize a workshop to create awareness on the Assam and Meghalaya Autonomous Districts (Constitution of District Councils) Rules, 1951.

The decision came in the wake of the ongoing political development in the KHADC after the collapse of the United Democratic Party (UDP)-led United Democratic Alliance (UDA) executive committee.

Subsequent to this, the state government has recommended imposition of Adminstrator’s rule in the KHADC, which was however rejected by the Governor Tathagata Roy.

Reacting to a query, chairman of the council Pynshngain N Syiem admitted that the situation has arisen due to lack of awareness on the AD rules.

“We will organize a sensitization workshop on the AD rules very soon,” he said.
