Shillong, Jan 20: The 1st Governor’s Cup Half-Marathon were flagged on Saturday by The Governor of Meghalaya, Shri Ganga Prasad. Marathon which kick start from  Mawsynram market to Umkhakoi, Mawlyngbna, East Khasi Hills. The marathon run was organized by the Raj Bhavan, Shillong.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor, Shri Ganga Prasad informed that the Governor’s Cup Half-Marathon is being organized for the first time in the country and also added that it will be held every year on the 20^th of January to promote sports and tourism in the State.

During the day, a rural sports festival was also organized at Mawlyngbna village where various competitions like Kayaking, Swimming, Fishing, Archery Drawing, Singing etc were part of the event.
