Shillong, Nov 01: The State cabinet on Friday approved the draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Hindustan Steel Construction Works Ltd as project management consultant (PMC) for construction of sports infrastructure for hosting the National Games in 2022.

“The PMC will start their work immediately when the department of sports assigned them the place for construction of stadium, games village. We do have to construct a number of mini stadiums and we have entrusted the directorate and department of Sports and Youth Affairs to assign the PMC because the MoU has already been approved,” Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong said.

Whether the government can complete within time the construction of sports infrastructure, he said, “We will try our best which is why we have engaged the PMC. The PMC is responsible to do everything even the tendering process has to be done by them.”
