Shillong Jan 9:
Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma has contacted New Delhi for an audience between the MDA delegation and Union Home Minister, Amit Shah to discuss with him on the need to implement the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Meghalaya.

The Meghalaya Assembly has also passed a resolution on December 19, last year to urge the Centre to implement the ILP in the state.

“Together with the chief minister, we have contacted New Delhi, however we are yet to get response from them. We are waiting for Delhi to call us then we will visit to discuss on the demand to implement ILP in the state especially after the State Assembly has passed the resolution. Anytime New Delhi calls us, we are ready to go,” Urban Affairs Ministers told reporters on Thursday.

Dohling recalled in one of the meetings with the Union Home Minister, he had assured to meet the MDA delegation after Christmas.

“As soon as the chief minister returned, we met him on Wednesday and discussed about this important issue related to ILP demand and the meeting with the Centre,” Dohling said.

He said that he has been expecting to see the implementation of ILP in the state right from his time as KSU leader.

“We will soon go to Delhi. Whether we get or not we do not know but we will push demand as a government. People also want ILP, besides the government and the state Assembly. What will be an outcome of the meeting with the Centre we cannot say, but we will insist that the Centre gives us ILP,” the minister added.
