Shillong Feb 11: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday reshuffled portfolios among the council of ministers which saw the taking away of Home (police) department and District Council Affairs department from his elder brother, James K Sangma.

However the Home (police) portfolio has been given to Lahkmen Rymbui, who would continue to look after Education, Forest and Environment and Border Area Development.

James will now look after taxation, apart from Power, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, law and Information and Public Relations.

Health Minister, AL Hek, who lost the information and public relations will look after Home (Jail) and Home (passport), and arts and culture.

Urban Affairs Minister, Hamletson Dohling will now look after the District Council Affairs apart from Municipal Administration and Information and Technology.

Earlier, James was in the centre of the controversy related to illegal transportation of coal.

The Home (police) department and Transport department were in question and the MDA government faced sharp criticisms in connection with the alleged illegal activities.
