Shillong, July 7: The Meghalaya government has sought for a report from both the Deputy Commissioners of East Khasi Hill and Ri-Bhoi districts as to how 41 people from the State had attended a wedding party at Greenwood Resort in Assam.
Two out of the 41 attendees have tested positive for COVID-19.
“In the review meeting held today, we discussed about this event that took place on June 27 and a small reception that also took place in Shillong. We instructed the Deputy Commissioners of the two districts to inquire in order to find the lapses,†Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said on Tuesday.
“Action will be taken against those responsible for such lapses and they will be put behind bars,” Tynsong asserted.
Moreover, the Deputy Chief Minister also warned that anybody who does not comply with the health protocols would be put behind bars.
It may be mentioned that five online inter-state passes were issued to four residents of the state. Each pass was valid for one way journey and one person per vehicle was allowed. However, 41 attended the wedding.
