Shillong, September 6: Nongrim Hills had to settle for their first point of the season after conceding a late equaliser in a 2-2 draw against Laitkor in the Shillong Premier League 2025 at the SSA Stadium, First Ground, Polo, on Saturday.
Banshemphang Kurbah (36’) and Isharwell Mukhim (49’) found the net for Nongrim Hills, while Shanborlang Nongrum (45’) and substitute Sandy Kharkongor (90’+2) scored for Laitkor.
It was a spirited contest, with Nongrim Hills twice taking the lead only to be pegged back each time. Banshemphang’s thunderous strike opened the scoring, leaving Laitkor custodian Deranius Wahlang helpless. Just before half-time, however, Shanborlang produced a stunning long-range effort to restore parity.
Moments after the restart, Isharwell dived forward on the slick surface to connect with a cross from the left and restore Nongrim Hills’ advantage. Banshemphang nearly doubled his tally 10 minutes later, only to be denied by the crossbar from a free-kick.
Nongrim Hills looked on course for a much-needed victory, but Sandy, introduced late in the game, dramatically levelled the scores deep into stoppage time with a powerful effort from distance after outmuscling Onyxson Buhroy in a tussle for possession.
The result keeps Nongrim Hills rooted to the bottom of the standings with just 1 point from four outings. Laitkor, meanwhile, climb to sixth with 4 points, tied with Mylliem but ahead on head-to-head record despite an inferior goal difference. Mylliem, however, have a game in hand.
SPL 2025 action resumes on Monday, when Mawlai take on Malki at 4:30pm.
