Shillong, Oct 23: It was a one-sided affair in the Meghalaya Women’s State League 2025 as Laitkor SC crushed Lapalang SSCC 23-0 at the SSA Stadium, Shillong, on Monday.
Despite the lopsided result, the match ended in good spirits, with players of Lapalang SSCC (Riwar Mihngi Football Association) exchanging smiles, handshakes, and hugs with their Laitkor SC (Shillong Sports Association) counterparts, who celebrated a record-breaking victory that sent them back to the top of Group A.
Star striker Iaraplang Nongrum produced an astonishing performance, netting 11 goals (1’, 7’, 9’, 25’, 29’, 60’, 66’, 68’, 73’, 80’, 90’+1). Supporting her were Ilenaki Laloo (23’, 40’), Saralin Warlarpih (26’), Inrila-i-dor Khongthaw (30’, 42’, 45’, 49’), Eiladki Ksoo (65’, 90’), and Ibashisha Khongwet (69’, 83’, 87’).
Meanwhile, in Group B, Jakrem SC (Mawkyrwat District SA) defeated Young SSCC (Pyndengumiong DSA) 3-1 yesterday. Goals from Banhunlang Synrem (27’), Banrihun Wahlang (47’), and Iaphishisha Marbaniang (86’) sealed the win for Jakrem, while Bankyntiew Ryntathiang (32’) scored for Young SSCC.
That result ensured Mawten SC (Mawkyrwat DSA) qualified for the quarterfinals as the fourth team from Group B, holding a head-to-head advantage over Young SSCC after both finished on 4 points. Mawten, however, fell 5-0 to bottom side Mawsawrit SC (Tyrsad Area SA) in their final group fixture.
Group B — the largest pool with six teams — will now send Mawlum Tyrsad SC, Jakrem SC, Bright Future SSCC, and Mawten SC to the quarterfinals.
Only two Group A matches remain:
Saturday: Attacker’s Youth Club (Pahamsyiem) vs Lapalang SSCC – 10 AM, Shillong
Monday: Laitkor SC vs Pay For Right FA – 10 AM, Shillong
