SHILLONG, DEC 11: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday announced that the Mawkhanu Football Stadium, currently under construction, is set to become an iconic structure and a major milestone in Meghalaya’s sports infrastructure development.
Speaking during an inspection of the project site, Sangma said the state’s deep passion for football makes this stadium a crucial investment that will significantly boost the sports ecosystem. “Meghalaya is a football-loving state. This structure will be a great incentive and boost to sports, especially the football sector,” he stated.
The Mawkhanu Football Stadium is poised to become the largest football stadium in the country, marking Meghalaya’s ambition to host larger national and international football events in the future.
