SHILLONG, DEC 17: The North Eastern Hill University Non-Teaching Staff Association (NEHUNSA) has refuted claims made by former Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof S Umdor regarding achievements during his tenure, alleging that the information presented was misleading.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, NEHUNSA said it was “shocked and dismayed” by claims that major tasks had been accomplished by the August Office, including the promotion of non-teaching employees through the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC).
The association clarified that no non-teaching staff member has received any promotion to date, despite the matter being one of its key agendas repeatedly placed before the university authorities.
NEHUNSA also disputed claims related to the finalisation of advertisements for the recruitment of non-teaching staff. According to the association, the earlier recruitment advertisement has lapsed and is yet to be formally cancelled.
Questioning the assertions made by the former Pro Vice-Chancellor, NEHUNSA stated that it was never informed of any finalisation process concerning recruitment or promotions.
Expressing disappointment over the claims, the association said it has brought the issue to the attention of the general public, maintaining that transparency and accuracy are essential in matters concerning staff welfare and university administration.
