Shillong, December 29: Shillong Member of Parliament Dr. Ricky A.J.S. Syngkon on Monday released the Khasi Calendar (Almanac) 2026, published by the Joint Entrepreneurs Transforming Society (JETS), during a brief yet meaningful programme held in Shillong.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Syngkon praised the initiative taken by JETS in publishing a calendar in the Khasi language, stating that such efforts play a crucial role in preserving and promoting indigenous languages, traditions, and cultural identity. He remarked that the Khasi Calendar serves not only as a tool for tracking dates and important events but also as a medium to educate the younger generation about local customs, festivals, and values deeply rooted in Khasi society.
The Shillong MP further emphasised the importance of entrepreneurship-led development in Meghalaya and the wider Northeast region. He noted that organisations like JETS have a vital role to play in generating employment opportunities, fostering innovation, and empowering local communities—particularly youth and small entrepreneurs.
Representatives of Joint Entrepreneurs Transforming Society stated that the organisation aspires to emerge as a leading entrepreneurial collective driving sustainable economic growth, technological innovation, and inclusive development across Meghalaya and the Northeast. They added that JETS works actively to promote entrepreneurship by supporting small businesses, encouraging skill development, and advancing community-based economic initiatives.
Speaking about the Khasi Calendar 2026, the organisers informed that the almanac has been thoughtfully designed to reflect Khasi traditions, important cultural observances, and local significance, while also serving as a practical guide for everyday use. The calendar is intended to reach households, institutions, and the wider public to strengthen awareness and appreciation of Khasi heritage.
The programme was attended by members of Joint Entrepreneurs Transforming Society, local entrepreneurs, and well-wishers, who commended the initiative for effectively combining cultural preservation with a vision for socio-economic transformation.
