SHILLONG, Feb 01: The Meghalaya government is awaiting a detailed report from appointed consultants to determine the most effective way to operate the 108 emergency ambulance services in the state, Health Minister Wailadmiki Shylla said on Friday.
Speaking to reporters, Shylla said the consultants have been tasked with conducting a study to assess various operational models for the service.
“We are still waiting, as we have engaged consultants to study what would be the best way to run the 108 emergency services. Once the report is submitted, we will take a decision accordingly,” he stated.
Responding to questions regarding alleged pending dues to employees associated with the service, the minister said he has not yet received any official files on the matter.
“For that, I have not received any files. Once it comes to us, we will definitely look into it,” he added.
The 108 emergency service plays a crucial role in providing timely medical assistance across Meghalaya, particularly in remote and rural areas. Any decision following the consultant’s report is expected to have a significant impact on healthcare delivery in the state.
