SHILLONG, MAY 4: BJP leader and Pynthorumkhrah MLA AL Hek on Monday said the party is in talks with a string of political leaders across Meghalaya who are ready to switch sides, claiming that “sitting MLAs as well as former MLAs and also MDCs” will join the BJP “very soon.”
“There are so many leaders, who called me, not only today but for the last few days that they want to join the BJP and definitely, we had a meeting with many of them and they are joining very soon,” Hek said.
“These include senior leaders, sitting MLAs as well as former MLAs and also MDCs are joining the BJP very soon,” he added.
Hek linked the expected inductions to the party’s 2028 roadmap. “I told you in 2028 it will be a BJP-led government in Meghalaya,” he said.
The BJP legislator also weighed in on the party’s recent electoral performance outside the state.
“In West Bengal, we know that we are going to win but we did not expect that much of a margin but it is trump victory for the BJP in West Bengal, Assam and also Puducherry,” Hek said.
