Nongpoh, May 15: The finals of the 1st Division and 2nd Division football tournaments organised by the Ri Bhoi District Sports Association concluded on Friday with exciting matches held at Nongjri playground in Ri Bhoi District.
The tournament, which witnessed participation from several football clubs across the district, culminated in two highly competitive finals that drew large crowds and created an atmosphere of excitement among football enthusiasts.
In the final of the 1st Division, Diwon Sports Club emerged champions after defeating Last King Football Club in a closely contested match. With the victory, Diwon SC lifted the championship trophy along with the cash prize.
Meanwhile, in the 2nd Division final, Sonidan Sports Club defeated Sumer Sports Club in a thrilling tie-breaker after both teams displayed an evenly matched performance throughout the game.
The closing ceremony was attended by several office bearers of the RBDSA, including President Bah RB Shadap, Secretary Bah Dipshon Ryntathiang, Vice President Bah Pulstar Nongrum, and Chairman of the Football Committee Bah Banlumlang Lyngdoh.
Charles Marngar attended the programme as the chief guest, while Bah Bipul Thangkhiew, President of the RBYF, attended as the guest of honour along with other prominent personalities from the region.
