Shillong, August 9: Datayug Society has reached more than 20,000 students and young people across Meghalaya through cyber safety and cybercrime awareness programmes since launching the initiative in June 2023, its Founder and President, Menoka, said.

Speaking at the Influencers Meet 2026 in Shillong, Menoka said the organisation is now expanding its awareness efforts to include social media influencers and content creators, with particular emphasis on mental health challenges and the growing risks of online scams.

She said content creators often face pressure related to likes, views and online engagement, which can have an impact on their mental well-being. To address these concerns, Datayug Society has collaborated with U-MATTER to incorporate mental health awareness into its programmes.

Menoka also cautioned influencers about fraudulent offers promising brand promotions, increased followers, likes or views. She urged content creators to verify such offers before making payments or sharing personal, financial or banking information.

The Influencers Meet 2026, jointly organised by Datayug Society, U-MATTER, VoxImpact by VoxCrest Media and the Meghalaya AIDS Control Society (MACS), also encouraged influencers to use their digital platforms to promote awareness of cyber safety, mental health, HIV/AIDS and other important social issues.

The initiative seeks to strengthen the role of young digital creators as responsible voices in promoting safer and more informed online communities.
