Pynursla, August 9: The Laitlyngkot-Lyngkyrdem stretch of the Shillong-Dawki Road (NH-206), covering Chainage Km 24+00 to Km 37+00, will be reopened to all vehicular traffic from August 10, 2026, the Pynursla Civil Sub-Division administration has announced.

The decision follows a joint inspection conducted on August 8 by officials from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), the Executive Engineer of the PWD (Roads), Pynursla Division, and other concerned officials.

According to a public notice issued by Additional Deputy Commissioner G. Warjri, MCS, the existing night-time closure will remain unchanged, with the road closed to all vehicles from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM.

All commuters have been directed to strictly follow the notified timings and instructions issued by the administration.

Caution During Monsoon

The administration has urged commuters to exercise utmost caution while travelling along the stretch in view of the ongoing monsoon season and the increased risk of landslides, rockfalls and road instability.

Members of the public have also been advised to avoid non-essential travel during periods of heavy rainfall, immediately after rainfall and during night hours.

Emergency vehicles, including ambulances, Fire Service vehicles and police vehicles, may be permitted to pass during the closure period, subject to a safety assessment by on-site authorities.

The administration has appealed to commuters and the general public to cooperate with the traffic regulations and ongoing road construction works, saying the measures are being enforced in the interest of public safety and to facilitate timely completion of the project.
