SHILLONG, AUG 11: A UDP delegation led by Cabinet Minister Lahkmen Rymbui met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Tuesday to flag concerns over proposed amendments to the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, UDP president Metbah Lyngdoh said.

Speaking to reporters, Lyngdoh said the discussion centred on the impact of the proposed FCRA changes on institutions in Meghalaya.

“The main issue raised with the Hon’ble Home Minister was FCRA,” he said.

Asked if other issues were discussed, Lyngdoh said the delegation would have also highlighted other pressing state matters during the meeting.

The meeting comes days after the UDP urged the Centre to review key provisions of the FCRA Amendment Act and Rules, 2026, warning they could affect humanitarian, educational, health and social services in the state.
