Shillong, September 6: Pastor Rev. T. Kharkongor has urged Christian youth to let their faith shine through their conduct, good deeds and service to others, and to become positive role models in the Church and society.

Delivering the sermon at the Youth Sunday afternoon service organised by the Senior Christian Endeavour Society of Lumshyiap Presbyterian Church on Sunday, Rev. Kharkongor said the light within young people should not be hidden or covered but should shine before others through their good works.

He reminded the youth of their important responsibility towards both the Church and society, urging them to make proper use of the talents, opportunities and resources entrusted to them by God.

Rev. Kharkongor encouraged the young members to lead lives marked by dedication, integrity and exemplary character. He also called upon them to remain steadfast in their faith amid the challenges, temptations and struggles of the present age, allowing the light of Christ to be reflected through their lives.

Hundreds of young members of the congregation participated in the concluding programme of Youth Week and Youth Sunday.

The Lumshyiap Senior Christian Endeavour Society observed Youth Week from August 31 to September 6, 2026, with the objective of strengthening the faith of young people and encouraging their active participation in Christian ministry.

The theme of the week was “Be careful, lest you become a lamp that is covered,” drawn from the Gospel of Luke 8:16.

During the Youth Sunday service, Nangsanborlang Syiem and Sancy Mawlong read passages from the Old and New Testaments, respectively, while Mercy Mawlong led the congregation in prayer.

Members of the Senior Christian Endeavour Society also presented a special song, while the concluding service featured theme-based songs performed by the youth. The programme reflected the spirit of unity, faith and dedication to the service of Christ and the Church.
