Nongpoh, November 8: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, along with Mawhati MLA Charles Marngar, on Thursday inaugurated the Mawlasnai–Kdohhati road in Ri Bhoi district, constructed at a cost of ₹17.70 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).

Stretching over 20 kilometres, the road is among the longest constructed under PMGSY in Meghalaya.

Speaking at the inauguration, Sangma said the government was committed to connecting villages across the state through improved road infrastructure and making daily travel easier for residents.

He said the government had worked to advance development across Meghalaya over the past eight years, adding that the trust placed in the government by the people had encouraged its leaders to continue serving them.

Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner Dr Abhishek Saini, government officials, village leaders and local residents attended the inauguration.

Meanwhile, at the Mawlasnai end of the road, the village also installed a life-size statue of Jesus Christ along with memorial stones, with support from MLA Charles Marngar and Catholic Church leaders of Mawlasnai Parish.
