MAWEIT, SEP 6: Former Mawshynrut MLA Gigur Myrthong has backed NPP candidate Dr DRL Nonglait as a man of integrity.

Addressing voters at Maweit on Saturday, Myrthong said, “Dr Nonglait does not speak carelessly. If we give a commitment and fail, it becomes a disgrace.”

Calling the by-poll crucial, he said, “In the past we elected someone but it led nowhere. We made a mistake and the whole state lost.”

“We don’t need people who only promise but do nothing. In this region we need a person who walks on the right path,” he said.

“Dr Nonglait does not make false promises. He speaks only what needs to be spoken. He is capable and consistent,” he added, urging voters to rise above party lines and work hard for the 2026 by-election.
