Shillong, September 15, 2026: Mawryngkneng MLA Heaving Stone Kharpran has inspected damaged roads in Mawryngkneng Nongdawah and Nonghali and urged the Public Works Department (PWD) to expedite their repair and improvement.
On September 14, Kharpran inspected the Mawryngkneng–Nongdawah road along with PWD (Roads) Assistant Executive Engineer S. Nongsteng. Mawryngkneng Sordar Peter Lawai, members of the village executive committee and leaders of the Church of God (Ecclesia) and Church of God (Meghalaya & Assam) were also present.
The MLA requested the PWD to complete the necessary repairs before the forthcoming Assembly gatherings of the two churches.
On September 15, Kharpran inspected the road at Nonghali in the presence of Assistant Executive Engineer S. Lasso, village Sordar H. Mynsong, members of the village executive committee and leaders of the Presbyterian Church.
During the inspection, he urged the PWD to sanction and undertake improvement works on the approximately two-kilometre stretch connecting the Health Centre with Khliehshnong Nonghali Lumsohjoh.
The MLA’s intervention followed repeated complaints from residents over the deteriorating condition of the road.
Kharpran also stressed the need to complete the improvement work before the Presbyterian Church’s major annual gathering scheduled for February 2027.
