Shillong, September 16: The National Academy of Broadcasting and Multimedia (NABM), in collaboration with the Regional Academy of Broadcasting and Multimedia (RABM), Shillong, conducted a two-day training programme on professional radio presentation for newly inducted casual assignees.

The programme, titled “Empowering Presenters: On-Air Excellence in Akashvani,” was held on September 14 and 15 in Shillong, with 30 participants from Akashvani Shillong, the North Eastern Service and Community Radio Station (CRS), Nongstoin.

The training was inaugurated on September 14 by Rehan Ahmad Warsi, Additional Director General (Training), Prasar Bharati, in the presence of Course Director Dr D. K. Mazumder, Programme Executive, NABM, New Delhi, along with officials from Akashvani Shillong, RABM Shillong and the North Eastern Service.

The sessions covered key aspects of radio presentation, including the role and responsibilities of announcers, diction, pronunciation, language discipline, microphone techniques, voice culture, breathing and vocal fitness.

Participants were also trained in audience engagement, effective linguistic strategies, live studio presentation, articulation and intonation for English programmes and Western music.

Practical sessions included on-air simulations, impromptu presentations and professional feedback aimed at improving participants’ confidence and presentation skills.

The programme was conducted by experienced resource persons, including senior announcers, academics and broadcasting professionals from Meghalaya.

The initiative reflects Prasar Bharati’s focus on strengthening the professional skills of broadcasting personnel and improving the quality of clear, credible and engaging radio presentation for audiences across Meghalaya and the Northeast.
