Shillong, October 15: Newly crowned Shillong Premier League (SPL) 2026 champions Mawlai will take on Nongkseh in the first semifinal of the SSA Super Cup 2026 at the SSA Stadium in Shillong on Friday. The match will kick off at 5 pm.

The knockout clash will see two of Shillong’s leading teams compete for a place in the final, with Nongkseh looking to avenge their league-stage defeat and Mawlai aiming to continue their winning run.

Mawlai secured direct entry to the semifinals after winning the SPL title, while runners-up Shillong Lajong also advanced directly to the last four. Lajong will face Meghalaya Police in the second semifinal on Saturday.

Nongkseh, who finished third in their maiden SPL campaign, had to navigate the playoffs to reach the semifinals. They came from behind twice to defeat Sawmer 4-2 on Tuesday in an entertaining contest that underlined their fighting spirit.

The upcoming encounter will also renew the rivalry between the two sides following their meeting in the SPL this season. That match appeared headed for a draw before Mawlai’s Damanbhalang Chyne scored a superb free-kick in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time to secure all three points for his team. The victory proved crucial to Mawlai’s title-winning campaign.

Nongkseh will now have an opportunity to settle the score, while Mawlai will look to maintain their momentum and move one step closer to another trophy.
