Meghalaya BJP plans ​polling booth sammelan in three regions

Shillong, Oct 21: The BJP Meghalaya unit which is targeting to win 40 seats in the upcoming Assembly elections has decided to organize a convention (sammelan) of party workers from various polling booths of the state in Shillong, Jowai and Tura.
During the meeting of a Core Committee of the state BJP at Orchid Lake Resort, Umïam, it was decided that the polling booth sammelan will begin from Jaiñtia Hills at Jowai on November 13, followed by Garo Hills at Tura on November 25 and for Khasi Hills it will be held in Shillong on December 2nd.
The meeting was attended by BJP national spokesperson, Nalin Kohli who is in-charge of Meghalaya, Assam minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, State BJP president, Shibun Lyngdoh and other senior leaders of the state BJP who are not members of the Core Committee.
Thousands of BJP workers from all the three regions – Khasi, Jaiñtia and Garo of the state are expected to attend the polling booth sammelan, which is part of strengthening the party from grassroots level.
Central leaders of the BJP would also attend the convention in all the three locations.
The BJP which has no MLA in the 60-member Assembly is planning to field candidates in all the 60 seats.
