Shillong, June 7: Police investigation is still on to find out more people involved in the assault of three persons at Them ïew Mawlong on May 31.

SP (City) Steve Rynjah said that so far, police have arrested two persons identified as B Misa and Anil Basi.

He said that action would taken as per law if found that someone has instigated that led to the assault.

According to him, more arrest will be made if the inquiry found out involvement of other people.

The three boys were sons and nephew of an STPS bus driver Skylin Roy Marbaniang.

Violent protest took place at Motphran and Mawkhar area in the past few days demanding shifting of settlers from Them ïew Mawlong after three persons were allegedly assaulted at Them ïew Mawlong on May 31 morning.

The assault came after an exchange of words between a bus driver and a lady residing at Them ïew Mawlong over the parking of a bus.

The altercation that led to the assault of the three persons by some men in the area, caused a volatile situation where angry mob and security personnel engaged in a standoff since May 31 night till Monday.

Police personnel, who were exercising maximum restraint while dealing with the crowd, bore the brunt of stone pelters. Tear gas shells were also used by security personnel to disperse the agitated mob from Mawkhar area.
