Shillong, Jan 8: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday released the names of four candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections.
Announcing the candidates, AAP Meghalaya state president, Wanshwa Nongtdu, told reporters that the party were Peter Aiborlang Dohkrud from Mawlai constituency, Dorass Ramsiej from Mawkyrwat constituency, Wonder Lapang from Umsning constituency, and Debrict Binone from Nongpoh constituency.
Nongtdu said that the AAP will field candidates in 35 constituencies out of 60 seats in state Assembly.
He also said that the ruling Congress was almost finished in the state, and the BJP would have no impact in the state, adding that people will turn to the AAP as an alternative party.
The AAP leader also said that the party has decided not to forge any alliance with other parties because a government formed by single party can provide more development.
“If the public is confident in us, they will vote for us, so that we can form the government. If we form the government with other parties, we cannot fulfill the expectations of the people,†he said.
