Action against Shangpliang will follow based on report, says Mukul

Shillong, July 21: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on Friday said that action would follow based on report into the alleged political activity of nominated IAS officer, Himalaya Muktan Shangpliang.

“We have a procedure, and anything brought to the notice of the government and based on that, orders/directions are given to find out what was going on. Then action will follow,” Sangma told reporters here.

Recently, civil societies have lodged a complaint against the nominated IAS officer accusing him of violating the All India Services (Conduct) Rules, 1968 following wide circulation of a video clip, where Shangpliang, was seen taking part in a Congress meeting held at Lawbah village in Mawsynram constituency on July 8.

Education minister Deborah Marak said that since notice has been served to the officer, the government would wait for the report.

Shangplang is holding the posts of Director of Social Welfare Department, Secretary of General Administration Department (GAD), Secretary to the Chief Adviser to the Government and Mission Director, National Health Mission and Meghalaya Health Insurance Scheme.
