AILAF wants Judicial Commission to inquire into mysterious deaths of three freedom fighters

Shillong, June 29: The All India Legal Aid Forum (AILAF) has asked the NDA-led government at the Centre to set up a Judicial Commission for proper enquiry into mysterious deaths of three freedom fighters including Subhas Chandra Bose.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, AILAF general secretary, Joydeep Mukherjee said, “We strongly demand the present centre government to enquire and disclose the real truth behind the mysterious death of the three national heroes of our country because since last 60 years and after the independence, a cocas and some power hunger groups tried their level best to conceal the real truth regarding the death of these icons.”
The Forum also demanded from the Centre to declassify the top secret 42 files and write to the Russian government to disclose KGB files regarding the death of Bose in Siberia Jail in Oms City of Russia.
According to Mukherjee, from the different files of KGB, the then Intelligence Branch of the Soviet Russia, it is clear cut evident that Bose was in Russia after August 18, 1945 and took shelter in Soviet Russia.
“We want to know whether he (Bose) was really kept in the jail,” Joydeep said.
Along with Bose, the general secretary said, the forum demanded that the Centre should set up a Judicial Commission headed by retired Supreme Court Judge for making proper enquiry into the mysterious deaths of two other freedom fighters Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and Dr Lal Bahadur Shastri, who was also a former Prime Minister of the country.
Dr Shyama had died in the Kashmir Jail on June 23 in 1953 and Shastri died in Soviet Russia in 1966, but till now the Central government is reluctant to disclose the real truth behind their mysterious death.
Meanwhile, the forum also demanded the centre to declare January 23, which is Netaji’s birthday, as a national holiday, even as it appealed to the Meghalaya government to declare the same as a state holiday.
It also demanded a big size bronze statue of Netaji and a memento in the memory of INA be set up in front of Lal Quilla of Delhi by the Central government to give proper respect to our icon, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and NIA
Besides, the forum also asked the need to publish the contribution of Azad Hind Fauz and Subhas Chandra Bose in the freedom struggle of India in the school and college syllabus.
