Shillong May 12: The Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) team East Khasi Hills district along with officers and staff of Mawryngkneng police station arrested three persons including a woman from Mawryngkeng junction in the early hours of Tuesday and seized one transparent plastic packet containing suspected yellowish orange powder weighing 11.63 grams.
After tracking movements of petty drug peddlers, the ANTF team arrested the trio, Mrinal Kanti Das, (31yrs) of K.L Complex, Shillong, Rakesh Barua, (26 yrs) of Bishop Cotton Road, Shillong, Moitre Barua, (44 yrs), of Bishop Cotton Road, Shillong.
The arrest came following continuous efforts to eradicate the drug menace in the city by concentrating and targeting the drug sale purchase network.
Superintendent of Police East Khasi Hills, C Lyngwa said that one transparent plastic packet containing suspected yellowish orange powder weighing 11.63 grams and one empty pink soap box with transparent plastic packet inside were recovered and seized under due procedures of NDPS Act.
Accordingly, the case was registered under Mawryngkneng P.S C/no. 11(05)2020 u/s 21(b)/9 NDPS Act.
