Shillong, March 10: Areas outside Shillong Municipal jurisdiction would also get solid waste management project funded by the Asian Development Bank.
This was informed by Urban Affairs Minister, Ronnie V. Lyngdoh today to a question raised by UDP MLA, Jemino Mawthoh. Lyngdoh said that the project of solid waste management would be extended in areas outside Shillong Municipal jurisdiction only after signing of MOU with the localities.
Lyngdoh also said that the project of solid waste management included segregation and transportation of waste, adding that 11 localities mostly in Mawthoh’s constituency would sign the MOU to implement the project.
To a question from HSPDP MLA, Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit whether NOC would be required from the district councils to implement the project in areas outside Shillong Municipal jurisdiction, Lyngdoh said that it was upto the localities to decide.
