Shillong, Nov. 13: The Hynniewtrep Youths Council (HYC) Ri Bhoi jointly with Raid Nongtung Circle has urged immediate intervention of the state government into the illegal trespassing acts by the Assam government and its attempt to set up a police outpost in Umru village near Tyrso Village ,Raid Nongtung Area under Block -II.
Addressing media here on Monday, Hercules Suting,General Secretary Hynniewtrep Youths Council (HYC) Ri Bhoi informed that the Hynniewtrep Youths Council (HYC) Ri Bhoi jointly with Raid Nongtung Circle is against the illegal trespassing acts by the Assam government from every now and then, and attempt to claim and possession the area by setting up a police outpost. He also informed that Hynniewtrep Youths Council (HYC) Ri Bhoi has submitted a petition to the Home Minister HDR Lyngdoh, the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the KHADC and Deputy Commissioner ,Ri Bhoi District.
Hynniewtrep Youths Council (HYC) jointly with the people of the village demand the state government to halt any attempt by the Assam Government in setting up the police outpost at Umru village, and safeguard the status quo agreement by the two states. Though the inter-state border dispute is a long pending and unresolved issue till date no final solution has been derived nor the issue being resolved, seeking the state government to protects the land encroached by the dreadful move of the Assam government.
They also condemned the Nepalese headman staying at Umru Village, who acted as a whistle-blower to the Assam Government.
The council also proposed that if the State Government failed to initiate action over the setting up of the Assam Police Outpost and illegal trespassing , they would approached the intervene of either to the Supreme Court of India or the Central Government on the unresolved and pending issue.
