Assam opens up entry for stranded people from NE under strict medical protocols

Guwahati, May 02:  State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday informed that from today the State Government will allow people from entire North eastern states to enter Assam provided they are provided they are ready for quarantine and for a detailed health check up at the border post.

Addressing a press conference at NHM office, Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “So far people residing outside Assam, we are providing a number i.e ‘7428159966’ where they will have to give a missed call, following which they will receive a link which they will have to fill up and a database will be generated and according to the capacity or the Railway coach which will be provided by Indian Railway will prioritise their train services.”

On the other hand, people willing to come by their own vehicle the Government will issue passes from today onwards and they can enter Assam at any point of time subject to the condition that they will abide by the protocol fix by MoHFW Department, Himanta informed further.

It may also be mentioned that Assam borders with all NE states except Sikkim will be open from tomorrow to ease return of stranded people. No pass is required for travelling from these states.
All returnees will be screened at interstate borders for COVID symptoms
