Shillong, Mar 13: Wheelchair basketball introductory camp was inaugurated on Wednesday held at Laban Indoor Sports Stadium by  M. War. Nongbri, IAS, District election officer, East Khasi Hills, Shillong, Meghalaya in the presence of  M.B. Tongper, MCS, Addl Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills, Shillong and  Kalyani Rajaraman, Secretary General, Wheelchair Basketball Federation of India.

Totaling 22 participants includes  11 women and men each respectively. Captain Louis George Meprath and Shri. Krishnanand are the coaches.

Camp were organised in partnership with District Election Officer, District Sports Promotion Society, East Khasi Hills, Shillong, Meghalaya and Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Ltd.

Bethany Society helped to mobilise players and Shishu Sarothi from Assam helped us with sports wheelchairs. District administration has organised medical help desk and ambulance. All participants were also given awareness on election process specifically for the handicapped.

Exhibition Match will be followed on Thrusday evening.
