The march was jointly organised by the Mahila Morcha team and the women of SC Morcha, BJP Meghalaya.
“With this protest, the women workers of BJP Meghalaya have joined their sisters across the nation in giving one message to the opposition parties – ‘new light will shine on the women reservation bill, the opposition parties cannot prevent its passage forever,” the BJP said in a statement.
The protest was led by Meghalaya BJP State President Rikman G Momin, BJP National Spokesperson Guru Prakash Paswan, state Chief Spokesperson Mariahom Kharkrang, SC Morcha President Gagan Jain and Mahila Morcha President Arena Hynniewta.
The party described the torch rally as a “symbolic protest against all the opposition parties that have obstructed the passing of the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament.”
