Shillong May 19: A member of the BJP Lurshai Lyngwa has decided to resign from the party and announced that he would not contest the upcoming 2018 MLA elections from North Shillong.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, Lyngwa said, “The reason behind the decision is because I have decided to fully support the Congress party and it’s sitting MLA from the constituency Roshan Warjri.”
He claimed that the decision was taken after he conducted a proper analysis on the political situation in the state.
Lyngwa, who was a former member of the KHNAM, is also one of the ticket aspirants from the BJP for North Shillong constituency.
“Though I am yet to apply for the ticket but I have decided not to contest the forthcoming election,” he said while praising the Warjri for her works and contribution to the constituency.
Stating that the BJP is yet to be accepted by the people of the state, he said that this is because it is only the ruling Congress which can bring development and ensure stability in the state.
Asked, Lyngwa claimed that along with him, other 75 supporters, who he had enrolled in the BJP, are also resigning from the BJP.
