Shillong, Nov 9: The BJP has demanded either judicial inquiry or CBI inquiry to unravel the alleged nexus of coal mafia with police and politicians in the state, following attack on social activist, Agnes Kharshiing, and her friend, A. Sangma at Sohshrieh in coal-rich East Jaiñtia Hills district.
“Violence cannot be accepted and the incident took place due to lack of security in the area,†BJP Yuva Morcha president, Egenstar Kurkalang said in a statement.
Urging people not to take the law into their own hands but cooperate with the law enforcers and government so solve the problem, the BJP Youth Wing also suspected that the incident took place because of the issue related to coal mining and transportation.
Asking elected representatives and ministers to find solution to the problem related to coal mining, the BJP also asked the government to speed up the Mining Policy for the benefit of the people in the state.
Demanding immediate arrest of culprits who involved in the attack, the BJP Youth Wing also demanded that free medical treatment should be given to the victims, and the Judicial Inquiry or inquiry by the CBI should be constituted to unravel alleged nexus of coal mafia with police or politicians in the state.
