Shillong, July 18: Congress candidate Boston Ch Marak was elected as the new Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) during the special session of the Council on Tuesday.
Boston was elected as the CEM after defeating his rival, Sukaram K. Sangma of the NPP by securing 17 votes in the 29-member GHADC.
Sukaran secured only 11 votes.
The Deputy Chairman, who conducted the election for the CEM post, did not participate in the voting.
