Shillong,May 05: The Border Security Force “the largest Border guarding force of the world”started a force level Annual Medical Conference at Ftr HQr BSF, Umpling, Shillong today. This annual event used to be conducted generally at New Delhi, but since last 03 years, it is being organized at different locations of BSF and this year the opportunity of conducting this annual affair has been assigned to FTR HQ BSF& Composite Hospital, Shillong. This is 8th Annual Medical Conference of BSF. The BSF medical Directorate has got distinction of being one &only amongst Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) to conduct Medical Seminar regularly at all its Composite Hospitals and FTR HQ and force level Annual Medical Conference too. Shri K K Sharma, IPS, Director General, BSF inaugurated the medical conference by lighting lamp. A book ‘BSF Health Magazine 2017’ was also released by the DG BSF along with official logo ‘Medi-con’ for the conference. After the opening address by Dr. H. L. Raskaran, IG, Director Medical, the DG BSF addressed the medical fraternity of the Border Security Force.

Before the Medical conference, the DG BSF also inaugurated a shopping complex within BSF Umpling Campus. During the interaction of the DG BSF with the officers of the Frontier Meghalaya, Sh P. K. Dubey, Inspector General apprised him of the security situation in Meghalaya along International Border and in the hinterland.

DG BSF emphasizing on fitness and health participated himself in a yoga session with officers and Jawans. While addressing the officers and Jawans of the Border Security Force at Shillong he motivated them to adopt newfinancial schemes and to spread financial literacy in order to become financially sound. On operational front he took stalk of the situation and complemented the troops for their achievements at Border. He conveyed to be more vigilant against any trans-border movement of fundamentalist elements who are under pressure in Bangladesh.
