Shillong,April 7: Butchers association in Meghalaya organized a rally on Friday in protest against the large –scale of smuggling of cattle to Bangladesh.
Khasi Jaintia Butchers’ welfare Association (KJBWA) Vice President, Generous Warlarpih crticised the government for turning a deaf ear on illegal smuggling of cattle despite several appeals to stop cattle smuggling.
The smuggling of cattle across the border of Bangladesh has affected the business as majority of the people are meat orientate.
Meanwhile, Warlarpih lauded the Veterinary department for conducting the health check up of cattle subsequently putting an ear tag on the checked cattle. The rally which started from motphran culminated at the additional secretariat.
