Cabinet approves 4% job reservation for PWDs, 2% for persons who bring laurels

Shillong, Aug 2: The Congress-led government has approved a proposal for implementing 4 per cent job reservation for persons with disabilities (PWDs)and 2 per cent for people who are instrumental in bringing laurels for the state including sportspersons.
“We have approved the proposal for special category of people which include the vulnerable group and the other for people who brings laurel to the state,” chief minister, Mukul Sangma told reporters after a cabinet meeting held here on Wednesday.
He said that 4 per cent job reservation will be implemented for persons with disabilities, which earlier was only 3 per cent.
According to him, such reservation will benefit people with disabilities like blindness/visually impaired, hearing impaired, locomotor disabilities, autisms and others.
On the other hand, the chief minister also said that cabinet has approved a similar proposal of 2 per cent job reservation for persons representing the state at the regional, national and international level.
