Shillong May 17: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma on Friday inspected the road connecting Lad Umsaw with Mawmaram near Sohïong via Mawlyndep.
Halting at different locations during the drive from Mawmaram, the Chief Minister said that early completion of this road would greatly benefit the people from villages along the route besides providing an opportunity to tourists travelling to various tourist destinations such as Sohra and West Khasi Hills to enjoy the beautiful and scenic countryside.
He also hoped that the alternate route would allow tourists and other vehicles travelling to East and West Khasi Hills to bypass the heavy city traffic and help decongest the city.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Secretary PWD, P.R Marweiñ, CE PWD (Roads), L.D. Suchiang and other PWD officials.
