New Delhi, Oct 14: In a major welfare initiative, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has expanded the scope of its Director General’s Merit Scholarship Scheme, ensuring that all wards of CISF personnel excelling in academics and sports are eligible for financial rewards.
For the academic year 2024–25, a total of 567 students benefitted under the revised norms, with ₹1.26 crore disbursed. The Force has abolished the previous cap of 150 beneficiaries, thereby allowing all qualifying wards scoring above 80% in Class 12 to receive scholarships.
Under the new framework, students securing 80–90% marks receive ₹20,000, while those with above 90% are awarded ₹25,000. For the first time, sports achievers among CISF wards have been recognised, with five students honoured this year.
Additionally, the revised scheme extends enhanced benefits to the wards of CISF Bravehearts who laid down their lives in the line of duty. Eight students from such families received scholarships for 2024–25.
To improve efficiency and transparency, the CISF has fully digitised the application and approval process. The online system allows candidates from remote regions to apply and receive funds directly in their bank accounts, ensuring speed, accountability, and ease of access.
CISF officials stated that the initiative has greatly boosted morale within the Force and reaffirmed its welfare philosophy, embodied in the motto “Welfare Above All.”
