SHILLONG, JUL 21: Citing the right to peaceful assembly, the Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organisations (CoMSO) has called for a probe into alleged excessive force used by Delhi Police on student protesters.
Chairman Roy Kupar Synrem said in a statement on Tuesday that every citizen has the fundamental right to voice grievances, and that law enforcement must act with proportionality.
CoMSO condemned the incident and said it believes the issues raised by the youth “deserve sincere attention through dialogue and democratic engagement rather than coercive measures.”
The organisation has asked the Centre to ensure such incidents are not repeated and has demanded an impartial inquiry into the reported use of force.
“The youth of this country must be heard, not silenced,” the statement said.
