Shillong, Sept 01: Congress MDC in Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), from Langkyrdem – Laitkor constituency, Jansing M. Tynsong has decided to extend support to the People’s Democratic Forum (PDF)-led Executive Committee led by suspended Congress MLA/MDC, P.N. Syiem as Chief Executive Member.
Tynsong, submitted his letter of support to the KHADC chief here on Friday citing that, for the sake of the stability of the executive committee.
“I have personally decided to extend my support to the PDF-led EC under your leadership without any condition for the sake of the stability of the EC in the KHADC from today till the end of the term,” Tynsong stated in the letter.
However his support to the PDF is against the Congress party’s decision which had withdrawn from the alliance after Syiem was put under three-year suspension.
According to sources, Tynsong, who is also the nephew of Congress MLA and former minister, Prestone Tynsong, is yet to resign from the Congress.
The Congress which is sitting in the opposition has 6 MDCs.
On contacting, Leader of Opposition and Congress PP leader, Manstudy Nongrem said that he was not aware of the development.
“We are yet to receive any communication from the MDC about his decision to support the PDF,” he said, while admitting that Tynsong’s decision was against the decision of the party.
The 12 MDCs supporting the ruling PDF (Forum) in the KHADC had officially joined the People Democratic Front (PDF), a newly floated regional political party in the state.
