Congress stages protest in Garo Hills against regulation on sale of cattle

Umling check post roadblock for cattle traders of the state

Shillong, Jun 01: The ruling Congress organised a protest Garo Hills today to oppose regulation on sale of cattle.
The protest was led by Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Zenith Sangma along with other Congress MLAs, Noverfield Marak, Cherak Momin and Winnerson D. Sangma.
The Congress would also organise a beef party in the state and in Tura, it will be held on Saturday.
The Congress has also launched a 45-day protest as part of the campaign against three years of the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre
The Congress said that the “Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Regulation of Livestock Market) Rules, 2017” would fuel tension among communities in Garo hills as well as affect the farmers and cattle traders.
