Congress’ Trade Union attacks Modi govt over farmers, labourers miseries

Shillong, July 28: The Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), a trade union wing of the Congress today attacked the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre for its alleged failure to solve problems being faced by farmers across the country.
Speaking to reporters here, INTUC national president, Dinesh Sharma said that the NDA government did not release around Rs 27,000 crore meant for farmers in the country, and blamed the Central government over the suicide of labourers, farmers and poor people.

INTUC also mocked at the Modi-led government over the flood situation in Assam which has affected lakhs of people, and accused that development in Assam has now gone 20 years back under the present BJP-led government.

“Though people are suffering because of flood in Assam, but the Centre failed to extend financial assistance to the state,” Sharma alleged.

Sharma also said that the present government did not bother to resolve the problems of the farmers and labourers, and instead, the government discriminated the labour class.

The INTUC also threatened to launch a protest outside Parliament if the Centre failed to release the money to the farmers.

Asking the Centre to provide life insurance of Rs 10 lakh and medical facilities for labour class, Sharma said that labourers should be registered free of cost,

“It is responsibility of the government to take care of the labour class and poor people in the country,” he said.

Sharma along with a delegation of INTUC would also visit other states in the North East and meet functionaries of the Congress to enlighten problems related to farmers and labour class.
