Shillong,June 1: All India Congress Committee (AICC) spokeperson Gaurav Gogoi has exuded confidence that Congress will retain power in Meghalaya post-2018 elections.
Speaking to media persons at Congress Bhavan in Shillong today, Gogoi said that he had held deliberations with different sections of society and his deliberation made him confident that Congress would retain power in the state with overwhelming majority this time like 2013 polls.
He said that his party would focus on development of infrastructure and creation of jobs in Meghalaya.
Gogoi, who represents Kalibor constituency of Assam in Lok Sabha, dared BJP’s spokesperson Nalin Kholi to have one to one debate on the issues pertaining to North East.
Calling BJP a party of hypocrisy, Gogoi alleged that the BJP is ruling the country on the formula of three “Ds” — Divide, Destroy and Distract.
Stating the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre has failed in all front, he said the prime minister made lot of promises but nothing has materialised yet.
When asked on the local issues like the ongoing protest against railway project, he said that the Congress party would take into confidence all the stake holders before taking any decision.
Referring to BJP’s allegation that the Congress leaders are corrupt, he questioned why they (BJP) are inducting such leaders into its fold.
