Shillong May 16: Minister for Health and Family Welfare, A. L. Hek on inaugurated the Corona Care Centre at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Umsawli.

NIFT Centre Manager and Director of MBMA, MIE, Joint Secretary, Commerce and Industries, Barnari Mawlong, Director of Health Services (MI) Dr. Aman War and doctors and nurses from various medical sectors including non-medical staff were present on the occasion.

After the inaugural, Hek took a detailed tour of the centre, which is equipped with basic room commodities including an in-house kitchen, sample collection centre, doctors and nurses duty rooms, donning and doffing areas, as well as an isolated sterile area to ensure safety of all staff.

The NIFT Corona Care Centre can accommodate up to about 81 occupants.
